eBay Search Exposure and Listing Titles
Best Match became the default-sort in search and browse throughout eBay, in March 2008. eBay users can still change the sort by selecting their preferred-sort option from the “Sort by” dropdown menu, in the upper right corner of search results:

Only 80% of visitors to the site change the default search results at eBay. What can you do as a seller to ensure your listing lands in the top search results? First of all, provide your customers with an excellent buying experience. eBay gives an advantage to sellers with high levels of customer satisfaction (4.7 Detailed Seller Ratings -DSRs and above) based a buyer’s feedback. There is one other thing that will be as important: your listing title.
Your listing title must contain the keywords that accurately describes your item and can be up to 55 characters in length. But the title should also contain keywords that visitors to eBay are searching for. To craft the ultimate Title, eBay provides a tool called the BayEstimator. Simply click on BayEstimator (upper right hand corner) and you’re ready to begin crafting great titles for your eBay listings. Before you begin, there is a tab with Instructions. That’s where you start.
I also found a great video to help you make sense of it all.
I hope this information helps you to craft optimized eBay listings so that they rise to the top of the eBay Search Results.
Happy eBaying!
