Back to Selling on eBay
I had taken a break from selling on eBay, but found my way back to it this summer. I’ve really been having fun and making money doing it despite the economy. Many people have given up on selling on eBay for several reasons. The fees certainly have an impact on sales, as well as the rising cost of shipping. But you can make money selling on eBay if you do your homework. You have to do research.
This summer I have had some fabulous flips. I call them fabulous flips because I had little investment in these items, but they ended up for selling 50% more than what I listed the items for.
My favorite fabulous flip was a Steel Tonka Car Carrier with 3 Cars, and the original box from the 1960s. I started the bidding at $29.99 and sold for $177.50. Another fabulous flip was a Hamm’s Big Bear Drinking Plastic Bank. I started the bidding at $6.99 and it sold for $45.44. So how do I do it?
Here are a few of my personal tips on make maximum money on eBay:
I don’t list anything I don’t think will sell. How do I know? I do my homework. I normally use Terapeak.
To list items, I use the free eBay software, Turbo Lister 2. It makes my life a lot easier listing a lot of items.
I take one photo for each of my auction listings and make sure it is a really good one. If bidders need additional photos, I will gladly take them and email them or post them. I decide what I’m going to list on that day and take all of my photos at once. That saves time.
When it comes to listing items, the most important thing (my personal opinion) is the title. It’s the first thing a potential buy reads on your auction listing. You want it to count. Terapeak has a tool called a title builder. I’ve included it below so that you can try it out.
With the description, I just describe an item as I’m looking at it. I provide the condition (any cracks, nicks, rubbings, etc), height, weight, history of them item (if known), and anything else you know about the item. Provide as much information as you can so that you don’t have to answer a million questions during the bidding.
There is a lot more information online and in print about getting in on the eBay bandwagon. In the coming weeks watch for more of my personal tips and fabulous flips. If you’ve had a fabulous flip recently, feel free to share it in the comments.
Good Luck eBaying!
